Anthony's Half-Assed Diet PlanThis is the crudest, least scientific diet article you'll ever read. I don't have a background in anything related to biology, so take everything I say with a grain of salt, which, last I heard, is bad for you. There are several theories on dieting. I'll be explaining the ones that made sense to me and that actually worked on me and my body type.
The Math Your body needs 2500 calories to function daily. To burn the excess fat you have in your body, you must either consume less than 2500 or exercise. Or a combination of the two. This is enough for you to figure out what's best for you. If you don't have time to exercise, then eat less. If you got time, then exercise. If you want to lose a lot of weight fast, exercise and diet. For every 3000 calories of fat your body burns you are bound to lose a pound. An intense team sport (tennis, basketball, soccer, jogging or cycling) burns roughly 500 calories an hour. A light sport such as baseball, walking or body boarding burns 300.
Exercise Most overweight people don't like to exercise, and who blames them. The gym and the track are probably the least interesting ways to exercise. There are dozens of sports that are more interesting: volleyball, tennis, racket ball, soccer, basketball, body boarding etc. Regardless, it's a matter of finding your sport. Once you do, exercising will become something you look forward to, as opposed to a chore. The key to success in picking up a new sport is to finding a sports buddy who is just as willing to try it out as you are. After you get the ball rolling, you two will get competitive, making you both want to practice more and more. Before you know it, you are in shape.
Diet For dieting here is what has worked for me: • I gave up milk and cheese and lost 3 pounds in a month. The cool thing about having fruit for breakfast and a big salad for lunch is that between those two you have consumed less than 700 calories, so if you follow it with a regular meal at night and sprinkle 2 granola bars for snacks, you'll be consuming 1600. That's 900 less than what your body needs. This means that you can expect to lose a pound every 3 to 4 days. Not bad. Now add two hours of your favorite sport every other day and you burning 1200 a day. Keep this up for just a month and you lose 12 pounds, doughboy! The only way to discover the world of salads is to hit the grocery store every other day, instead of buying one huge carload of stuff that's going to rot in your kitchen. That way, you can continuously test out whether you like certain vegetables and fruits, keep what's tasty, and spare what's boring. Your new condiments will be olive oil (as much as you want) and soy sauce instead of salt. Lemon, vinegar and mustard can also help make the salad more interesting. Diced olives, dehydrated onions, or granola instead of croutons. Another advantage to having a big salad every day is that you clean out “crud” that's caked on to the walls of your small intestines and colon. This works as a double benefit: you lose a little weight (the crud), while improving your body's ability to absorb nutrients. The better you absorb nutrients, the healthier you become. |
